Below are some bump and scan photos from my pregnancy. Unfortunately, none of them are of a high quality, but I cherish them as they are beautiful memories that I wouldn’t trade for the world. They are all in chronological order.
BFP (Big Fat Positive) – After a few days of suspecting I might be pregnant, I finally took a home pregnancy test on the evening of 31st July 2011. It came back positive pretty much straight away. I was 4 weeks and 6 days pregnant.
7 Week Scan – Seeing that there was a real baby growing inside of me was amazing, because up until this point there was a huge part of me that thought I would have an ultrasound and find out there wasn’t actually anything inside me. Though this little blob didn’t look like a baby, we were lucky enough to hear the heartbeat at this appointment. I got very tearful when I heard it.
9 Week Scan – At this appointment, even though it was so early, our little jelly bean was starting to look like a real baby. There was a distinctive head, with little wiggly arms and legs. I was so excited and we told our families and most of our friends at this point.
12 Week Scan – We had to go into Naples for this appointment. The whole experience was very surreal. I was so excited to see that we now had what looked like a very real little baby growing inside of me. After all of the measurements and observations were complete, the doctor said that our “bambino is perfecto”

Approximately 13 Weeks – We had friends visiting us in Italy when I was around 13 weeks. I was not showing at all at this point.

17+6 – This is around the time Steve told me my shape was changing and I was beginning to look pregnant.
20 Week Scan – Before we went to this scan, we decided we wanted to find out the gender if it was possible. Steve nearly didn’t make it to this appointment because of work, but they let him come at the last minute. We were delighted to discover we were having a little boy. Pretty much from this moment on, he was known as Finley to us. We were a little bit less than delighted to find out about the cord flow issues. I love these photos, and when I saw him for the first time after he was born, he looked exactly like he does in the top photo.

22+4 – I was definitely looking pregnant now and my tummy was beginning to get hard.
24+3 – We went to Steve’s Christmas do for work and got to get all dressed up. There was a photographer there and we got quite a few photos
26+6 – We were in Canada for Christmas. This is when we visited Lake Louise.
27+2 – I was starting to feel quite big by this point.
28 Week Scan – As always, we were happy to see our little man growing. The cord flow still wasn’t perfect, but his growth was consistent.

32 Week Scan – By this appointment the cord flow had corrected itself. Seeing Finley at this appointment was amazing as the scan was so detailed. We found out he was breech at this appointment, though he turned by 38 weeks.

36+2 – I couldn’t help taking this photo while I was out shopping for even more baby things. Everytime I saw myself in the mirror, I was so surprised at how big and round my belly was.
36+4 – Jacob absolutely loved cuddling up to my bump.
36+6 – Only one day left until I was considered full term. I was beginning to get anxious and excited to meet my little man.

37+3 – I went with a friend to the Allied Spouses Luncheon. Everyone there joked that I had better not go into labour.

38 Weeks – And boy was I ready for something to happen. This was the first and only bump photo that I had posted on facebook.
38+4 – This is the day that my waters broke. I can’t believe looking back at this photo that I’m smiling and full of hope. It was only the very next day that Finley was born and rushed to NICU and the beginning of the worst thing that has ever happened in my life. I miss him so much.
